The Staal Brothers....

This version of "four brothers" features the son of a Thunder Bay Ontario Sod Farmer who in the winter would create a rink on the fields and the four brothers wuld take to the ice for a game of shinny.

The oldest brother, 21 year old Eric was a second round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes and is making waves this year in the new NHL. His 18 year old brother Marc is a defenseman for the Sudbury Wolves and was a 12th overall pick by the New York Rangers in last years NHL draft. The third brother, 17 year old, Jordan plays for the Peterborough Petes of the OHL and is currently in his draft year. He is ranked 5th on the Central Scouting Bureau's list, but is favoured to go in the top three. He has been selected to play on the under 17 team for Canada and is said to be the favourite to captain the team. The youngest brother and said to be the best of all four of them is 15 year old Jared. Jared is playing AAA in Thunder Bay this year and is currently in his OHL draft year. He has been rumoured ot be as good a skater as his older brothers already at this stage of his development. He is sposed to be bigger stornger and faster than Eric. Jared's draft year is 2008.

All four brothers are said to ahve amazing hockey sense and are all very strong skaters, it seems that they are all very talented players and it will only benefit the NHL to have these four all playing together one day in the future

Although it is a little too early to say that they are the 21st century version of the sutters, it is not an overestimation to say that they all have an opportunity to be superstars one day in the NHL.

Primeau Packing His Bags?

It has been rumoured that Primeau is retiring, that information is false. Primeau will not be retiring, but the question is when he comes back will he be in the orange and black? The San Jose Sharks and Columbus Blue Jackets are said to be interested. The Blue Jackets' Nikolai Zherdev has found himself in many of these trade rumours and for all intents and purposes it appears that he is being shopped.

The Leafs seem to be after Janne Niinima, and are said to be offering Jason Allison, strictly a 1 for 1. The Leafs are also said to still be in the Witt sweepstakes but as one source close to the Caps put it, "he won't be traded to an Eastern Conference team if they can help it."

The Hawks are said to be looking for takers of Khabibulin. The 'Bulin Wall' has had quite a few cracks in it thus far and as a result it appears that his monster contract seems to be too big for the hawks...Phoenix is said to be the only team interested in Khabibulin and they are shopping Mike Comrie. Don't lok for Khabibulin or Comrie to go anywhere anytime soon.

There is speculation that the Leafs are going after Tom Poti, but this is false information.

The Oilers have been in talks with the Ducks about Petr Sykora...Federov seems to be too expensive for a lot of teams.

The Rangers ahve been in intense talks all weekend with the Blues over Barrett Jackman. The Rangers want Brewer, but for what they are offering they will only be able to get Jackman.

The latest rumour out of Leaf land would see Palffy come to Toronto for Allison and Colaiacovo...this is very unlikely and is not yet confirmed.

As always, check back for details

Just got off the phone with a fellow insider

Here's what I learned...

Bob Boughner is on the trading block again....and he is rumoured to be heading to any of five places. Toronto, New York Islander, Pittsburgh, Calgary and phoenix are all said to be interested in the journeyman defensemen who seems to always be on the block but is a good, solid defender. He has played well in Colorado, but Colorado is deep on defense and can afford to part wiht him for some help up fornt...

Nik Antropov seems to be the odd man out in Toronto. He is rumoured ot be the one thta the Leafs are offering in almost every trade offer to teams...he has become expendable with the superb play of Kyle Wellwood and the captain of the Leafs return hasn'e helped his cause.

Witt is still ebing rumoured to be traded to somewhere on the continent of North Amrica, his destination however is ver unclear.

sergei Gonchar is on the block but noone is overly interested in bhis 5 million dolar contract...look for that to be a sticky point in trade talks about the offensive defeneman...

Poor Bryan Leetch has hurt his knee and is said to be out 4-6 weeks and Martin Ruccinski is out 2-4 weeks with a pulled groin. Sundin says he will make his return this weekend,he went with the team to Raleigh but said it was unlikely he would suit up. Look for Sundin to play Saturday night against Tampa bay at home and if not Saturday, then Sunday in washington...

Oh and one more thing Ovechkin is on the trade blocks, said to be headed to the Leafs for Sundin and a first round pick...

Gotcha!!

Check back soon for updates....

Marc-Andre Fleury on the block?

I know I can't believe it either...last months AHL outstanding player is on the trade block....the rumour is thta he is headed to the St. Louis Blues for Patrick Lalime.....I would be surprised if this actually occurs as that is alot of payrollt o bring on so something else must be going on like Gonachar heading somewhere...still no formal offers but there are a lot of interested teams in sergei Gonchar....eventhough the "O" word has been used lately many scouts feel that he isn't getting old but rather getting used to the new NHL...last ngihts goal may be an example of him turning around....chack back soon for updates as the phone lines have been wuiet but are starting to heat up again....
